That goes for most games.
Not for an RPG, where story and background lore are some of the defining aspect of the genre. You have Chrono Trigger, then you have Guild Wars.

I think I'd see it!

I want to see who ever's playing Prince Rurick (please let it be some big burly guy) say such memorable qoutes as "As a boy, I spent much time in these lands" and "I almost cried when the searing happened"(that last one might be made up).

I think an actual live action movie based on the original Prophicies might be interesting. But, as Lonk pointed out, there are several hundred small variables that need to be absolutely perfect for it to actually turn out right...

Sadly, no matter how bad it was. It would still probably be better than most movies of the horrible movies released now...

OK, FOUR points to make.

Point 1: Uwe Boll. Beware.

Point 2: A good movie, with good, serious content, could well be made.
Prophecies: Possible serious themes would include refugees of the searing or the issue of Patriotism vs. Survival in Adelbern and Rurik.
Factions: The relations of two brothers, one granted a state far beyond the other due to virtue of birth. Next, you get the same refugee situations as in prophecies. An interesting plot would be to examine the idea of an intentionally inept bureaucracy (the ministries) that enhance the popularity of the Emperor.
Nightfall: Amazingly, the least material for serious thematics, even though the storyline itself is a good one.

3: Paul W.S. Anderson. That counts as a GOOD director for a game movie. Beware.

4: Uwe Boll. Beware.

I would be interested, but it would all depend on how they did it. I, too, have seen Dungeons and Dragons, as well as Doom. It would highly depend on if they could get a decent screen writer and a director that knew enough about the lore to make a worthy attempt. I have sadly seen too many of my favorite books/comic books/etc slaughtered on the big screen to be too optimistic about a movie like the one you suggest coming out.
If they made one, I may not go to see it in theatre right away, but I'd definitely watch it on the small screen (where I wouldn't be wasting money).

But that's just my two cents

I'd like to see it, though I think I would prefer if it was animated/CGI'd like the Final Fantasy movie a few years back. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173840/
That was pretty cool. So a nice GW movie on the scale of the Final Fantasy movie would be ticket worthy imo.

In order for GW to make any type of a decent movie it would need to be way over 3 hours. And even then it would fail. Some things are not meant to be movies as previous video game movies have shown (Super Mario Bros., etc).

What makes a good game won't always make a good movie, now maybe make a GW fan movie, that could be interesting.

So to answer the question: No, unless it had a good cast and crew.

OK, I'll go along with Patrick Stewart as Togo but only if we get Vin Diesel as Mhenlo.

I think the guy that did LOTRO should do it, he does a good job, and he's doing Gears of War the movie (I don't know his name, but he's director.)

I would SO go to see Guild Wars: The Movie, especially if the one comedy character was a Mending-Frenzy-Healsig Wammo with the catch-phrases "Wammo Charrgeeee!" and "ZOMG n00b m0nkz rezzzzzzz!!!"
